Murder suspect nabbed after fleeing to Zambia – Confesses to fuel station robbery spree

BMetro Reporter

A 24-YEAR-OLD fugitive has been arrested in a dramatic police raid after a tip-off revealed he was hiding in Cowdray Park – and he’s since spilt the beans on a shocking crime spree.

Leanmore Nyoni wanted for murder in Hwange, was tracked down to a house in Esigodweni, where cops swooped in and hauled him in for questioning.
But the drama didn’t stop there – the suspect allegedly confessed to a string of armed robberies at fuel stations across Hwange and Lupane last year, alongside his accomplice, Proud Gumbo.

Nyoni reportedly fled to Zambia in August 2024 after Gumbo was arrested, but his luck ran out when locals alerted police to his hideout in Zimbabwe, upon his return.

“We warn criminals: you can run, but you can’t hide forever,” said Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.
“The community’s help was crucial in nabbing this suspect.”

She praised the public for their vigilance, urging more tip-offs to crack down on crime.
Nyoni now faces murder and robbery charges – proving that even a dash across the border won’t save you from the long arm of the law.
