adminKyokushin Union of Zimbabwe technical director, Samson Muripo, will conduct the grading ceremony which is expected to attract fighters from Harare, Chegutu, Mutare and Domboshava.
The students will be graded from white belt to brown belt. Muripo will be assisted by senior karatekas – Lovemore Nyamutswa, Malvery Muyambo and George Mutambo.
The Kuz technical director said they were going to assess everything that has to do with karate during the grading ceremony.
“We are expecting around 50 students to be graded from the white to brown belt. Last year we had 27 students.
“We will assess them on everything that has to do with karate that is from the basics, katas and kumite.
“We are hoping to groom the new fighters.
“Grading is more like putting them into a family because after grading they will continue practising,” said Muripo.
After the local event, Muripo will grace the Africa Kyokushin Union Annual grading ceremony in South Africa where he is hoping to make arrangements with Shihan Bas van Stenis to come to Zimbabwe early next year to upgrade the blackbelt students.
Muripo said they cannot afford to take the students to South Africa as it is expensive.
