Gospel diva Argatha Murudzwa has vowed to continue serving her country with distinction by participating in national events.

The “Press On” hitmaker has been actively involved in various national events, giving it her all.

Last weekend, she participated in the Anti-Sanctions Gala held at The Heritage Village in Harare.

Organised by the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, this year’s gala runs under the theme “Inclusive Development through Heritage-Based Innovation and Industrialisation in a Multilateral World”.

Being part of the event, Murudzwa felt honoured by the recognition she received.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this event because it meant a lot to me,” she stressed.

“I have always enjoyed performing at these events because I am serving my nation.

“I have reached a point where I want to be remembered for leaving behind a legacy to be cherished for years.”

Born and raised in Mutare, Murudzwa has established herself as one of the finest praise and worship singers the country has ever produced. “For some of us, we were called to come and sing gospel music, and it can only be God who will reward me for all the good work,” she pointed out.

Despite not winning awards at the national arts merit awards that Zimbabwe has been hosting, Murudzwa believes that God has blessed her with her talent.

“I might not have amassed awards or been nominated, but the biggest prize that I will cherish for years to come is the talent I have. I have been receiving calls from fans countrywide who say my music has transformed their lives. This kind of support and feedback is every musician’s wish.”

Murudzwa, who joins the elite league of stars known for participating in national events — including Andy Muridzo, Sandra Ndebele, Chief Hwenje, Shantel Sithole, Sasha “Madhuve” Lushomwa, Cello Culture, Jah Master, Clemence Magwaza and Jah Signal — expressed her excitement about living her dream.

“The joy of serving my nation is still unmatched because I have always enjoyed this special calling. I have been preaching the same gospel of unity and patriotism for years because we have always embraced this mission. God has been doing wonders for me and I will always cherish this for years to come.”

“I make sure I give it my all wherever I perform, whether at church conferences, private gigs, or national events,” she emphasised.

Murudzwa, who recently launched her 18th album titled “The Sermon,” has vowed to continue producing more music.

“As I indicated earlier, I won’t stop making music; it is not only my job but a special calling. In life, you can’t quit what God has assigned you. I might have produced several albums, but I still feel the urge to record more music and ensure I cater to my fans. My fans come first, and I will forever cherish this for years to come.”

Added Murudzwa: “For the record, I am one of the consistent divas who have been working hard over the years. I simply enjoy what I do, and I don’t have any complaints despite not having some awards that many people expect me to win. At the moment, I am busy promoting my latest albums, and I can assure fans that more videos are coming before the year ends. I have decided to invest in videos because they promote my albums easily. I have been focusing on more visuals because I can also monetise them.”

She continued: “As a seasoned musician, I will always listen to what my fans want because, without them, I am nothing. I cherish all the good things they have done for me because it means a lot to me and my fans. I am determined to ensure that I don’t starve my fans of new content and videos. We are here to serve them and our nation with pride. This talent should not go to waste, as we want to change many lives with our music.”

Besides her latest album, “The Sermon,” Murudzwa has a rich catalogue of albums, including “Fambai Neni” (2003), “Ndimi Mwari” (2005), “Ngatitye Mwari” (2007), “Hupenyu Hwangu” (2009), “Mwari Anotiona” (2010), “Press On” (2011), “No Pain, No Gain” (2013), “Grace Period” (2015), “Breakthrough” (2016), “The Living Word” (2018), “It Is Well” (2019), “Ukholo Lwami” (2019), “Zvitsauko” (2020), and “Ikem” (2021).

She has also recorded several singles that are doing well.
