CHINA-based Zimbabwe football development coach Walter Musanhu has added yet another feather to his growing profile after becoming the latest among the locals to be certified a FIFA match agent.
The multiple-award winning youth coach, who runs the Jadel Football Academy, which is headquartered in Beijing and has branches in Zimbabwe, Europe and elsewhere in Africa was awarded the certificate by the world soccer governing body – FIFA – this week.
He joins a handful of Zimbabweans who are officially allowed to arrange international games by FIFA.
“By means of this letter, we are pleased to inform you that your application for a FIFA Match Agent Licence has been approved and you have been granted a licence to conduct the relevant Match Agent activities by FIFA.
“As long as you are licensed by FIFA, your name shall be listed on the FIFA Match Agents list published on FIFA.com.
“Furthermore, you are kindly requested to ensure that your insurance cover is maintained throughout your activity as a FIFA Match Agent and to send confirmation of renewal of validity as appropriate,” read part of the letter Musanhu received from FIFA.
“We thank you for taking note of the above and wish you every success in your work as a licensed FIFA Match Agent.”
ZIFA, through their chief executive officer Yvonne Manwa, yesterday hailed Musanhu and said they were optimistic his coming on board, would add value to the game in the country.
“These are positive vibes and it means as a country we are making some really good strides towards the right direction,” said Manwa.
“Look, we need more and more match agents and that will help our game in a very big way.
“We would like to congratulate Walter (Musanhu) for the recognition. It is not only about him, it is about us as a country and I am glad he touched base and assured that the country will benefit a lot from his new position.”
Former Dynamos and Motor Action defender Musanhu joins others who include Ellen Chiwenga in the trenches.
Musanhu said he will arrange matches for age-group teams and the Mighty Warriors as well as the senior national team.
“I want to be the game changer especially on football development as I’m also preparing for the Jadel FA 2034 World Cup Project which I’m aligning myself,” said Musanhu.
“As we countdown to the sixth edition of the Jadel Football Academy Invitational tournament which we moved to January 2025, with Jadel FA China coming in the country to participate, the promotion has come at an opportune time as we intend to use sport to promote cultural exchange and sports tourism.”
