Mushore wins chess tournament

EMARALD Mushore won the Bulawayo Grand Prix Chess Tournament held at Eveline High School over the weekend. The tournament attracted over 90 participants.The Bindura based Mushore scored 6,5 points to win the big prize with runner up Bismark Bhobhojani trailing him with a six points score.
Mushore walked away with $400 for winning the mind game while Bhobhojani pocketed $300 for his efforts.

The best locally-based player was Kudakwashe Sibanda who finished third and walked away with $200 as consolation prize.
In the children’s category 12 year old Sikhulile Ncube was the best junior player and she pocketed $20.

Shakiel Falala was the best in the Under-14 category and was followed by Auther Ndlovu. They each walked away with $30 and $20 respectively.

Bulawayo Chess Club spokesman Moses Mutipforo described the tournament as a success.
“It was fantastic compared to last year, even the attendance record shows that alongside the high level of competition,” said Mutiforo.
