MUSHOWANI Stars coach Levison Selous has shifted focus and is now aiming for Premier League promotion after his side defeated Beta XI 1-0 in a Runyararo Service Stations Northern Region Division One League match at Motor Action Sports Club on Saturday.

Mushowani have now taken over the top spot, dislodging their opponents, who had a slender one-point lead before the fixture.

Selous, who took over from Paul “Popopo” Chimalizeni, has gone for 10 games without defeat.

”We are now confident and we are now targeting the championship. Every game we are going to play will be like a Cup final.

“The Beta XI game is not the decisive one as we still have many fixtures but beating a team also competing for the championship gives you confidence.

“We had a good game and managed to score late on and we are happy for the maximum points as they will be crucial come end of season,” said Selous.

Mushowani Stars got the all-important goal from Melusi Doli in the 82nd minute to take their points tally to 40 after 20 matches.
