A star-studded cast of Zimbabwe’s top musicians is set to take centre stage at this year’s Anti-Sanctions Music Gala, scheduled for tomorrow at the Heritage Village within the African Liberation Museum in Harare.

Running under the theme “Inclusive Development through Heritage-Based Innovation and Industrialisation in a Multilateral World”, the gala will bring together 16 artistes drawn from across the country, promising an electric night of song, dance and unity.

Organised by the Ministry of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, the event serves as a solidarity platform advocating for the removal of unilateral sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by Western nations and their allies.

               Sandra Ndebele

The line-up reads like a who’s who of Zimbabwean music, featuring Andy Muridzo, Agartha Murudzwa, Chief Hwenje, Shantel Sithole, Sasha “Madhuve” Lushomwa, Cello Culture, Jah Master, Clemence Magwaza, Jah Signal, ZRP Band, Simon Mutambi, Iyasa, Sandra “Sandy” Ndebele, Khonangale, Cynthia Mare and Mbare Chimurenga.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services deputy director Hymn Mureru said preparations have been smooth and fans can expect fireworks on stage.

“Preparations have gone according to plan, and all the musicians we announced in the line-up will certainly perform. We’re expecting a full house as usual, considering that all the artistes are familiar to fans. Most of them have performed at previous national events to perfection,” he said.
Mureru added that revellers are in for a treat.

Andy Muridzo

“This year’s edition is unique compared to the 2024 event in Esigodini. Harare has been remembered this time around, and the focal point will be The Heritage Village, which is ideal for a celebration of this magnitude,” he said.

Judging by the line-up, the event promises to be a musical feast. Bulawayo’s Clemence Magwaza, who stole the spotlight at this year’s Heroes Day gala, is expected to take his high-energy Tshibilika sound to the capital city.

Veteran entertainer Sandra “Sandy” Ndebele, a fixture at national events for over two decades, will once again prove why she remains one of the country’s most dependable performers.

Also set to shine is Cynthia Mare, who recently returned home after a decade in the United Kingdom. Her participation marks her official return to national events after a long hiatus that began in 2015.

Iyasa

Fans can also look forward to lively dance sets from Iyasa and Mbare Chimurenga, both renowned for their powerful stage energy and choreography.

Agartha Murudzwa will well represent gospel music, while Khonangale, Cello Culture, Jah Signal and Jah Master will add the Zimdancehall flavour that never fails to ignite national stages.

Those watching from home and online will also be treated to an unforgettable showcase of Zimbabwean talent as the nation unites through music to mark SADC Anti-Sanctions Day.

Declared in 2019 by the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, the day, commemorated annually on October 25, stands as a symbol of regional solidarity with Zimbabwe against sanctions imposed by Western powers.

This year’s gala not only celebrates the resilience of the nation but also reflects Zimbabwe’s ongoing journey toward heritage-based innovation and industrialisation, in line with the Education 5.0 model and the President’s vision of leaving no one behind.
