MUSICIAN Mazarura (Ransom Madzamba) has released a new single titled National Development Strategy (NDS2), using music to raise awareness of Zimbabwe’s development agenda and encourage citizens to play their part in achieving an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

NDS2 is Zimbabwe’s second five-year medium-term economic blueprint, covering the period from 2026 to 2030.

The song continues Mazarura’s tradition of producing developmental and socially conscious music.

His previous releases include Vision 2030, Africa, Mukoma Ranga and Say No to Drug and Substance Abuse, all of which carry messages aimed at inspiring positive social change.

Mazarura said he was inspired to write the song after witnessing the development projects taking place across the country and seeing the need to communicate the NDS2 vision to ordinary Zimbabweans in a language they can easily understand.

“Through this track, I saw the need to communicate the developmental proceedings to the majority of Zimbabweans so that they appreciate and be part of the trajectory. Music is another way of communicating an ideology, and the song is all about exploring what the National Development

Strategy 2 is all about and how crucial it is to take us to an upper-middle-income society come the year 2030.

“The song is a call to action. It’s communicating a message to say, look, we have done much in our developmental trajectory and let’s continue working hard as a people for the attainment of an upper-middle-income society. I’m just using music to communicate. I’m a communicator by profession and I’m communicating a message of hope to the general people,” said Mazarura.

Beyond highlighting national development goals, the song also encourages young people to become active participants in building the country’s future while steering clear of destructive social behaviour.

According to Mazarura, the youth have a critical role to play in driving economic growth and national development.

“The song is exploring various developmental activities happening in the country and, at the same time, encouraging the people, especially the youths, the active age, to be part and parcel of the developmental initiatives being spearheaded by the Second Republic.

“It is a clear message to the youths to say Zimbabwe requires the effort of every one of us to prosper. Let’s do away with such social ills like drug and substance abuse, corruption and work for the good of our livelihoods and the nation at large,” said Mazarura.

Through National Development Strategy (NDS2), Mazarura hopes to use the power of music not only to entertain, but also to inform, inspire and motivate Zimbabweans to contribute towards national development and the country’s Vision 2030 aspirations.
