Various musicians converged for the Shirt and Soap Festival held at Belgravia Sports Club on Saturday afternoon. The event was meant to source clothes and groceries for the displaced Tokwe-Mukosi flood victims at Chingwizi camp. Jah Prayzah, Sulumani Chimbetu, Progress Chipfumo, Leonard Zhakata, Fungisai Mashavave the gospel couple Charles and Olivia Charamba, Sniper Storm and Cynthia Mare were some of the artistes that performed.
Sniper performed songs from his latest album “Silver Bullet” while Fungisai charmed the crowd with her songs “Makomborero” and “Kwedu KuZimbabwe”.
Chipfumo made a plea to the crowd to give the little they have to the displaced villagers through a song called “Tokwe Mukosi”. Other songs from the musician’s playlist that charmed fans were “Kurepa Mwana” and “Mangerengere”. The Charambas had a good day in office as they displayed well choreographed dances throughout their performance. Songs “Nyika Zimbabwe”, “Komborerai Vana” and “Africa” among other songs were popular with the crowd.
Zhakata was on top of the game belting songs from his current album “Zvangu Zvaita”.
The song “Kudhonza Makomborero” is fast becoming popular as it became a sing-along track at the show.
Jah Prayzah performed songs from his latest album “Kumbumura Mhute” that include “Kumaricho” and “Dali Wami”.
Event director Okay Machisa said they were pleased with the turnout.
“The event was successful and the turnout was excellent for us because those that made it brought the clothes and soaps that we needed.
“Actually we got five big bags of clothes and we appreciate the support people gave to the people in Chingwizi,” he said.
