Musiiwa speaks on Chegutu Pirates

Ellina Mhlanga Sports Reporter
CHEGUTU Pirates vice-chairman, Musiiwa Dube, believes the dust has settled at the club and they will now direct all their efforts towards the team’s survival in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league.
Chegutu faced a number of challenges in the first half and they fired Tavaka Gumbo due to a string of poor results.
“The issue of Gumbo actually affected us because he was a very popular guy in Chegutu. When we fired him it divided the supporters, the stakeholders and it affected the general running of the club because some of the sponsors were not happy.

“But people are getting confidence in the executive.
“It’s a closed chapter as it is almost three months after firing that guy and we have no regrets. That was a very good decision we made. The results are now exonerating the executive,” Dube said.

He said they were optimistic of a better performance in the remainder of the season.
“Last year we finished strongly but unfortunately we lost very good players so certainly this year was going to be tough and we were not surprised,” said Musiiwa.
“We had no money at the beginning of the season and we had no players so it was difficult and the results had to reflect the situation.
