Musikili is one of the top franchise team in Zambia and will make their maiden appearance at the festival, which has attracted talented players from Harare and Bulawayo.
This is the first time for Mbare Academy to take part in the festival, which will be a day and night event, with Grades 4 to 7 pupils expected to take part.
The schools that will feature are Hartman House, Barwick, Lilfordia Springvale, Ruzawi, Alex Park, Whitestone, St John’s, Mbare Academy and the hosts Hellenic.
Hellenic coach, Douglas Trivella, said this year’s edition is likely to be more competitive.
“The preparations are going on well, Catsicas is a very interesting festival and all the players are excited about the event,” said Trivella.
“We want to give an opportunity to under-privileged players and those from government schools to showcase their talents.
“This year we have started with Alex Park and we hope will be able to invite more schools and academies next year.
“We had 1500 fans who attended last year and I am sure this year the number will increase.
“The Cheetahs management will also be present.”
Ruzawi won the festival last year.
The festival was started in 2008 by parents at Hellenic School.
“The parents did a great job and their efforts were not in vain as the festival is a competitive event and is enjoyed by many rugby players,” said Trivella.
