Musona to discuss terms with Hoffenheim

with Hoffenheim as a deal to take him to the Bundesliga moved a step closer to conclusion.
The Bundesliga side have had an offer for the 21-year-old accepted by his current club Kaizer Chiefs.
Hoffenheim, who had initially arranged a trial period for Musona, changed the conditions when it emerged that Scottish giants Celtic were also interested in the striker.
The German side decided to throw in an offer, which was accepted by Chiefs and believed to be around US$2 million, and all that remains for Musona to move to the Bundesliga is an agreement on personal terms and passing a medical.
The Zimbabwean hotshot was the top goal-scorer in South African Premiership last season with 15 goals.
“We have negotiated the offer club to club so now it’s more about the player and what he wants,” Chiefs’ team manager Bobby Motaung told BBC Sport.
“It’s definitely not a trial. We’re going there for medicals, contract negotiations and so the boy can see if he is happy to join.
“Then we will make a decision from there.”
The striker hit the headlines last month as he scored twice for Zimbabwe as they beat Mali 2-1 in a 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in Harare.
Musona has scored all the three goals for the Warriors in the current qualifying campaign.
He missed the match in Mali, because of injury, and the Warriors fired blanks that day in a 0-1 defeat.
Motaung also confirmed that Celtic boss Neil Lennon has shown an interest in Musona but insisted Chiefs would not be holding an auction for their star striker.
“It’s not an auction – we have been engaged with talks with Hoffenheim for a month now and now we have to go to Germany,” Motaung added.
Bafana Bafana’s World Cup hero Siphiwe Tshabalala has also expressed an interest in leaving Chiefs during the close season.
However, Motaung said he would like to hold on to the winger, who recently captained his country in the 0-0 draw against Egypt in Cairo in a Nations Cup qualifier.
“He’s our player and we are not in the business of selling players. There is nothing like that at the moment so we are in no rush,” he said.
“But if there is an offer like Musona has, then we will honour that.”
Meanwhile Zimbabwe midfielder Archford Gutu, currently on trials in South Africa with former champions SuperSport United, was down with flu yesterday.
Gutu posted on his Facebook wall that he was down and immediately received scores of messages, from his fans, who all wished him well.
His manager Calvin Nyazema said they were still to hear from the SuperSport United officials as Gutu had only been at the club for a short period.
Newly promoted Super Diski side, Jomo Cosmos, yesterday unveiled Zimbabwean forward Alois Ngwerume, who made headlines playing for social side Highdon Raylton, as one of the seven new players for the forthcoming season.
Ngwerume, who has played for Jomo Cosmos before, had an unsuccessful stint at CAPS United before returning to South Africa and is managed by former Warriors’ midfielder Edzai Kasinauyo. At a media briefing held at the Turffontein Race Course, Cosmos’ communications manager, Lucky Mhlathe, welcomed the new signings while emphasising that the process of signing more players is ongoing.
Among the seven newly-acquired players paraded at the event was former Moroka Swallows defence stalwart Vincent Kobola, Siyabonga Nontshinga from Bay United, ex-United FC midfielder McDonald Nhlapo and Solomon Hlahane, a midfielder formerly attached to Sasolburg Juventus FC.
Others are Tsietsi Mkwanazi from African Warriors as well as former Tuks FC star Phethego Maebela.
Ex-Moroka Swallows wing back Vincent Kobola told the Cosmos website that he’ll use his wealth of experience to ensure the team performs creditably in the Premier League.
“Jomo has been on my trail for the past five years, and now that we are finally teaming up, I am determined not to disappoint him,” Kobola told the club’s official website.
He added: “We all know how difficult it was for the team to get back to the PSL, but staying put and winning laurels is equally important, so we must all work together for a successful campaign in the Premier League.”
One of the other new players, Siyabonga Nontshinga, who played for Bay United against Cosmos during the Platinum Play-offs, and will be campaigning in the PSL for the first time, expressed hope that his coming on board the Ezenkosi ship will usher in good things. – BBC Sport/SuperSport/Sports Reporter.
