Mutambi gets midweek slot in capital

WINNING the hearts of fans in a big city like Harare is every artist’s dream.

Simon Mutambi is well on course to do just that.

The singer, who passed through Music Crossroads Academy, is now playing at Players Nite Club on Thursdays.

He started last week where fellow musicians Peter Moyo and Senator Tichareva   graced the event.

“We are happy that the management at Players Nite Club has given us this slot.

“We have been playing mainly in the rural areas but our music also appeals to fans in urban areas.

“We have been waiting for this moment and we are simply happy that our prayers have been answered,” he said.

Mutambi added:

“We always give our best wherever we perform and (last Thursday) was indeed the great night to show our fans what we are made of.

“We hardly disappoint fans whether we perform for a big crowd or a paltry crowd.

“We simply love our job because that’s where our bread is baked.”

He also took the opportunity to perform both old and new songs.

His new songs were embraced by the crowd which kept on requesting them.

He finished around midnight, an indication Mutambi meant business.

Midweek slots are hard to come by for sungura artists, who are known for playing for long hours.
