‘YOU’RE A LIAR JURGEN’

LONDON. – PGMOL have hit back at Jurgen Klopp in a sensational statement accusing the Liverpool manager of LYING.

Klopp launched an astonishing attack on referee Paul Tierney following his side’s 4-3 win over Tottenham with Diogo Joya’s stoppage-time strike securing three points for the Reds to maintain their slim hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

Following Jota’s goal, Klopp sprinted over to confront fourth official John Brooks and cheer in his face before limping back to his technical area after pulling a hamstring.

Tierney then booked the Liverpool boss, who had been furious with the decision to award Tottenham a free-kick which led to Richarlison’s equalising goal.

Klopp said on Sky Sports after the game: “What he (Tierney) said to me then when he gave me the yellow card… That’s not possible. But it’s not OK as well,” adding Tierney said something “unacceptable” to him.

“We’ve had our story, history with Mr Tierney. I really don’t know what this man has with us.

“He will always say there’s nothing but it’s not true. It cannot be, I don’t understand that. It cannot be. I’m really not sure if it’s me, how he looks at me. I don’t understand it.”

But referees’ governing body PGMOL released a statement on Sunday evening saying: “PGMOL is aware of the comments made by Jurgen Klopp after his side’s fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.

“Match officials in the Premier League are recorded in all games via a communications system and having fully reviewed the audio of referee Paul Tierney from today’s fixture, we can confirm he acted in a professional manner throughout, including when issuing the caution to the Liverpool manager so, therefore, we strongly refute any suggestion that Tierney’s actions were improper.”

Graeme Souness said: “Look we can’t sit here and condone it. He’ll wish right now he didn’t do it.

“I’ve been there and the emotion and when things are going against you, sometimes you react in a very strange way.

“But he’s suggesting he has an ongoing situation with the referee which can’t be helpful.” Mailonline.
