DYNAMOS coach Lloyd Mutasa expects his men to end their barren run in front of goal this weekend when they invade Beitbridge for a battle against Border Strikers in a Castle Lager Premiership tie tomorrow. The gaffer is optimistic that his charges’ lifeless show in more than 360 minutes of football will end and he believes they will win against the Premiership newboys.Ironically, the team’s last victory was against Border Strikers at Rufaro when goals from Godknows Murwira and Kudzanai Nyakasaka powered them home.
“There are no easy fixtures in the league. We have been underperforming but everything has a beginning and I hope we will turn the tide and be able to score and get three points,” said Mutasa.
“It is a pity that we are not getting goals but the good thing is we are creating those chances.
“So, it is a matter of converting something which I believe we will get right this time around.”
The coach is still trying to find his best combination upfront from the pool of strikers at his disposal.
In the last match, he started with Rodreck Mutuma and Jacob Muzokomba and, in the previous game against ZPC Kariba, he thrust King Nasama and Muzokomba into the starting line-up.
“Whenever these small teams play the so-called big teams they get motivated and even if they have gone for a number of matches without winning they will do well.
“So, we are not reading much into their past performance and we know this is a tough match for us. They would be fired up for this game,” he said.
Mutasa’s son Wisdom may have to wait a little bit longer before he makes his debut for the Glamour Boys as he is still waiting for his clearance from ZPC Kariba.
Mutasa said the midfielder is itching to play.
He is likely to feature for the Glamour Boys next weekend at home when they host Bulawayo City at Rufaro.
Apart from the fat pay cheque they are assured in the big encounter at Dulivadzimu as the country’s biggest football club rolls into the border town, Vavheneki are also looking at snatching, at least, a point from the Harare side.
Border Strikers coach Never Malunga says they badly need the points to survive relegation.
“It is a big game, we give them total respect but on the field of play it would be 50-50,” he said.
