LLYOD Mutasa has quit his post as FC Platinum head coach following a difficult stint with the Zvishavane side. The gaffer tendered his resignation to club president George Mawere.
The platinum miners moved swiftly and installed Patrick Mandizha as interim coach. Club spokesperson Chido Chizondo confirmed Mutasa’s departure.

“FC Platinum regrets to announce the resignation of the head coach Lloyd Mutasa who today, August 7, advised club president George Mawere of his intention to step down following what he believed was failure to live to full potential.

“Mr Mawere has since accepted the resignation and has appointed interim coach Patrick Mandizha, who is currently assistant coach in the junior development programme.

“A substantive coach will be announced as soon as the executive identifies a suitable candidate to take over the position” said Chizondo.

Mutasa was appointed head coach at FC Platinum last season in June after Tennant Chilumba left the club to join Power Dynamos of Zambia.

“The club executive wishes Mutasa the best in his future endeavours and hopes he will continue to work with the club in its quest to fully unlock the potential in its junior players, some of whom have been promoted to the senior team,” said Chizondo.

“The Club president has appealed to FC Platinum fans and partners to continue supporting the team and remain calm as it goes through the transition period.”

The Herald can, however, reveal that Mutasa was forced to resign yesterday.

His technical team was also not spared as the fitness trainer Ndabezithe Ncube, goalkeepers’ coach Daniel “Kahembe” Khumalo and kit manager Emmanuel “Mayaya” Chapeza were also given the boot.
