DEPUTY Minister of Energy and Power Development, Engineer Munacho Mutezo, last Saturday commissioned electricity at Shinja Secondary School.
Speaking at the ceremony, Eng Mutezo challenged the Chimanimani community to take it up to themselves to see to the betterment of their lives as well as the development of the country.
“This electrification programme is for the people. Instead of sitting back, you should form groups and make contributions so that the whole community will have electricity. Instead of complaining about everything, the Chimanimani community should be innovative and contribute towards the nation’s economic growth.
“As Zimbabweans, we are way past the stage of depending on foreign investors for our own country’s development. Instead we should fully depend on ourselves and work hand in hand with Government to achieve all our goals,” he said.
Eng Mutezo also challenged teachers and students to put the electricity into good use.
Said Eng Mutezo:“We know that it is discouraging for a teacher to be deployed to a school where there is no electricity. Now that we have electricity here at Shinja, we expect teachers’ morale to be boosted and hope to see an improvement of our children’s grades.
