FORMER Highlanders and Warriors hitman Knox Mutizwa is buzzing after landing a fresh lifeline in South Africa’s topflight league.
The 31-year-old striker has joined Richards Bay as a free agent, just weeks after parting ways with Golden Arrows following a reported bust-up with coach Maqoba Mngqiti that led to his contract being ripped up.
Mutizwa, who has built a reputation as a reliable goal poacher, said the move has reignited his passion for the game and given him a chance to prove he still has plenty to offer.
“I know, like, for me personally, I think I scored enough goals to be out there. It’s not nice to be moving from one club to another, but in life, anything can happen any day,” Mutizwa told the South African media.
Despite the abrupt end to his Golden Arrows stint, the former Bosso star said he was thankful to Richards Bay for handing him a platform to keep plying his trade in the Betway Premiership.
“So I am just grateful to wake up and get a job. I am grateful to the people that gave me the job. Once again I have the opportunity to showcase my talent which is very important,” he said.
Mutizwa is no stranger to South African football, having spent several years making a name for himself with Golden Arrows where his clinical finishing earned him respect among defenders and fans alike.
With a new club and a fresh challenge, the veteran striker is determined to fire Richards Bay to glory while proving to his doubters that he’s far from done.
Fans back home will be keeping a close eye on his progress, hoping the move reignites the form that once made him a feared striker both in Zimbabwe and across the Limpopo.
