Mutodi gets back his men

“It was only for one show and they have since rejoined their band.
“We are thankful to Energy Mutodi for releasing them for such a crucial gig.

“Most of our band members who were injured in the accident have recovered and have rejoined the band,” said Sukoluhle Dube, the Utakataka Express manager.

Dube said they had found a replacement for drummer Prince Kapatswa, who broke both legs and was still admitted in hospital.

With his recently assembled crew, Peter would lead his pack for yet another show at the Chegutu Arms on December 30.

The Young Igwe, who spoke through his manager, was upbeat about the show despite the setback and promised his fans a polished act.

The group has been rehearsing with their new recruit and morale was high within the group despite the setback.

“The show goes on and we are raring to go,” said Dube.
The Chegutu show would be a litmus test for new drummer Donald to exhibit his drumming skills in front of a sizeable crowd.

The gig would also wrap up the year for the Utakataka Express, which had an eventful year, despite the minor setback following the accident.

The band was involved in a road traffic accident on their way from the Unity Gala held at Gokwe Centre on December 14.

Peter himself had an eventful year in which he found himself in the news for either bad or good reasons.

However, the young man should be credited for keeping the Utakataka ship afloat when everyone else was thinking it was sinking after Mutodi raided the camp and took with him senior band members.

Moyo soldiered on and has been performing throughout the year.
However, his bad temper threatened to mar his good efforts after he exchanged blows with a fan for taking photos during his performance in the Harare Gardens during the Dhewa Memorial Gig.
