a rousing video dedicated to the freedom fighters who were massacred at Chibondo.
The video of the song “PaChibondo” narrates the brutality of the Smith regime while in the same breath Mutodi urges Zimbabwean to fulfil the aspirations of those who fought to free Zimbabwe.
He sings: “Zvikoni zvikoni amai havaroodzwi . . . Shamwari yepamoyo rimwe zuva ndikafuma ndisina ayeh . . . shamwari yaenda neyiko ndizvo zvenyika.”
The video shows some of the scenic views and swag as well as the opulence that Mutodi is known for. Shot with high definition camera the video is not like your ordinary rhumba videos that you have seen before especially when it comes to quality sound and picture.
According to Mutodi, who is lovingly called “Tatu Muluba” (the big diamond baron) by his fans, said the release of the video was timely in that this year’s edition of Heroes Gala was being held in Mt Darwin.
“Zimbabweans should be economically empowered so that when we look back at the sacrifices made by fallen heroes we will be happy that they did not die in vain.
“We are a people with a destiny and we should not dispossess ourselves deliberately and it is about time we show the world that Zimbabwe is able to develop its own future,” he said.
Mutodi also appreciated that he was performing at the gala with his full band – The Real Sounds of Africa.
His is readying his second studio album after “Simbi YaMdhara” that features hit number “Chigorodanda”, “Ruvimbo” and “Pershie” this month. The video album launch is set for Jazz 105.
