Victor Maphosa in Mutoko
Mutoko Rural District Council handed over 41 motorbikes to councillors today, a gesture that seeks to improve their working conditions so that they fulfil their mandate.
The local authority also procured a backhoe loader using devolution funds.
The motorbikes and the loader were commissioned by Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe at an event which was held at council offices in Mutoko centre today.
“I applaud Mutoko RDC for procuring a backhoe loader and 41 motorbikes for its councillors. The backhoe loader will go a long way in terms of service delivery, which is the core mandate of local authorities.
“The 41 motorbikes procured will improve councillors’ mobility from one point to the other so that they are able to reach all corners of their wards, thereby leaving no one and no place behind,” said Minister Garwe.
