need to show a great deal of diligence and astuteness in the way they lead and navigate new paths and for the people behind to follow. As for Zinwa, the organisation has been under the able leadership of Engineer Albert Muyambo, since 2003.
Eng Muyambo, a veteran in the water sector, is the second chief executive officer of Zinwa since its formation in 2000. He has overseen the growth of the authority from strength to strength and continues to provide leadership to the Zinwa team and beyond.
He is an accomplished engineer, athlete, tennis player and a family man, all wrapped in one. Eng Muyambo has managed to find time for each of these and more, something which most people find difficult.
To many at Zinwa, he is a father figure, a man who has mastered the art of listening to each and every individual, department and providing precise and practical solutions to problems. He is one man who has grown to know that leadership is not only about talking to the people, but the ability to sit down and listen to the same people as well. He is a man who fully appreciates that when one is a leader, he has to be like a waiter, talking to the people, hearing what they want and providing them with exactly what they expect.
Recently, Eng Muyambo was elected the president of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers and will lead the organisation until March 31, 2012, which is another vote of confidence in his leadership prowess and qualities.
Eng Muyambo holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the United Kingdom, a National Diploma in Structural Engineering and a National Certificate in Civil Engineering.
A Gazetted Engineer for Large Dams, Eng Muyambo is also a member of the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe.
Eng Muyambo has also attended various courses in Dam Safety, Maintenance and Monitoring in the United States and also has a certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance. He also holds certificates in Management and Development.
The Zinwa chief executive officer is also a board member of the Harare Metropolitan Tennis Board and patron of the Harare Athletics Board. He has also previously sat on the Tennis Zimbabwe board. Eng Muyambo was the manager of the All-Africa Games Marathon held in Harare in 1995. He was also the National Convenor of Selectors for the Cross Country and Road Running between 1994 and 1998.
Eng Muyambo has also earned various accolades such as the Stevens and Dawnays Prize for Structural Engineers, Architects and Quantity Surveyors’ Course (1978) and the National House Building Council First Prize in Engineering Communication and the Dennis V Jude Prize in Engineering Drawing (UK, 1988).
Eng Muyambo is married and has four children – three daughters and a son.
