admindefending champion for the 89.7km Comrades Marathon, added another South African ultra-marathon title when he won the 57km Old Mutual Oceans Marathon on Sunday.
The athlete stopped the clock first in 3 hours 08 minutes 08 seconds to land the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa on Sunday for the first time in his career.
He also wrote his own piece of history to become the first man since the turn of the century to win the two ultra-marathons back to back.
Only South African national Derek Preiss has managed to win both the Two Oceans and the Comrades marathons in the same year when he achieved the feat in 1974 and then repeated the performance in 1975.
And for 37 years the record had stood until Muzhingi came long to rekindle the excitement by winning on Sunday.
Now Muzhingi is on the threshold of writing his own piece of history after he won the 43rd edition Old Mutual Two Oceans in wet and windy conditions on Sunday and is now aiming to defend the Comrades Marathon on its 88th running on June 3.
