Mvula clocks 17th clean sheet

TAIMON Mvula forced his way back into Dynamos with a clean sheet against Highlanders in a lifeless Castle Lager Premiership match at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

His inclusion, in the Battle of Zimbabwe, was a major talking point.

Many who had written him off after being overlooked in the last five games amid turbulence in their camp.

But, he made his mark on Sunday and increased his clean sheet tally to draw level with Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Nelson Chadya, who was leading with 17.

Chadya is also closing in on his first Golden Glove award, should he keep clean sheets in the remaining two matches.

He is the reason the Mhondoro side are still making a shout for a top four finish despite a nightmarish campaign.

Mvula made a comeback at a time when his team appear to be on a downward spiral.

Dynamos look like they are losing grip in their battle for second spot with Chicken Inn.

The Gamecocks have managed four points in their last two games, while the Glamour Boys only got a point.

The two sides are separated by two points, but Dynamos also run the risk of losing out in the top four.

Ngezi Platinum Stars are keeping tabs on their situation.

To show how they badly want to dislodge Dynamos, they emphatically beat Tenax 5-0 on the road.

They are now six points adrift of the fourth spot.

Dynamos meet Herentals at the weekend before wrapping up the season with a Harare Derby date against CAPS United.

Coach Tonderai Ndiraya bemoaned his side’s lack of killer instinct, particularly in the big games.

“Players haven’t been expressing themselves in the manner they should in such big games,” said Ndiraya.

“A top four finish is still within our reach and we are not playing easy teams either.

“We have to try and push on in our next game against Herentals.

“It’s these games that reflect the mental strength of the players when you are playing good teams.”
