PSL dead in H-town

Sports Reporter
IN Harare, the Premier Soccer League is dead and buried.

That’s the reality!

Anything else is fantasy and a shameful attempt to try to suggest a frog can win a beauty contest.

Sadly, it appears the league’s leadership are seeing life where everyone is seeing death.

When the Battle of Zimbabwe attracts just about 3000 fans, to the National Sports Stadium, on a sunny summer day, then these are the signs of real trouble.

When the Harare Derby attracts about 5000 fans to the giant stadium, then those are the signs that the top-flight league is dead in the capital.

Of course, we can’t say football is dead because there is life at the Division One clubs, who are based in the capital.

There were more fans at the Division One match between Golden Eagles and Simba Bhora at Ellis Robin school recently.

The hosts printed 5000 tickets but they were all secured by the fans and they had to scramble to find other ways to ensure those who were paying would be accounted for.

That’s not the case with the PSL and, watching what is supposed to be the league’s biggest match, being watched by a sparse crowd, at the giant stadium, was a painful reminder that the league has lost its fan base in the capital.
