BULAWAYO-based afro pop musician, Ice Mwanza, has released his debut 12 track album titled Treasure Island. The album is loaded with neatly composed songs done in Shona, Ndebele, Nyanja and English in order to cater for a wider audience across the country.
Mwanza started singing in 2003 and his career never got the much needed recognition but has now released this album, which he hopes will bring him success.
Mwanza said he was hopeful that the album would land him on the big stage on the entertainment scene.
“I have a song on the album which I did with Maskiri and I am looking forward to holding shows and collaborations with other big names. People should give my album a chance. If they do, I am certain they will find it entertaining,” he said.
Mwanza said he was taking his music career seriously and could soon be forming a full band.
“At the moment I have eight dancers who double as backing vocalists, but we are looking forward to forming a full kit big band,” he said.
The album consists of songs such as Muri Chiyedza (Amai), Ngizohlala Ngikuthanda, Wega Forever, For You and Siya, which features Maskiri.
Released at the same time with the CD are two videos for songs Muri Chiyedza (Amai) and Siya. Mwanza said Muri Chiyedza Amai was a special song which he dedicated to all the mothers who are always there for their children.
“This is a special song especially to me because it is a dedication to my mother first and all the mothers in the world,” he said.
