DRESSED in ripped jeans and wearing expensive Michael Jordan sneakers, socialite Mwendaz weDrip, or simply Mwendaz, was as usual looking dapper on Africa Day.
Whilst other socialites were probably enjoying private moments with their loved ones, Mwendaz (born Campion Tichaona Jani) took to the social media to remind his multitudes of followers of the importance of the day.
Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on May 25, 1963.
The octogenarian, who reminds many of Irvine “Grandpa Bae” Randle, a 60-year-old American teacher and fashion model who is known for his stylish pictures, was, as usual, dressed stylishly.
Appearing with some youths, some of whom were also elegantly dressed, Mwendaz reminded many of the importance of Africa Day.
“This (Africa Day) is a very important day for us as Africans as it defines who we are. We must take this day and whatever it represents seriously,” Mwendaz said.
The social media influencer also gave valuable advice to the youths.
“I spend time with the youngsters, giving them some tips and showing them the right paths to take in life. I am a brother, father and grandfather and it is my duty to advise them,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Mail Society.
The 84-year-old bemoaned the rampant drug and substance abuse by youths, which he opines is causing a lot of mental health challenges.
“Drug and substance abuse is a major challenge. I urge the youths to take the route that I followed and shun drugs. I am old but I am fitter than most of these youths,” Mwendaz said with a grin.
He also urged the youths to take advantage of social media and use it for positive development.
“Some people think that social media was created for posting jokes and other trivial things. But it can be a tool that can be effectively used for personal growth and development.”
