ZANU PF Women’s League provincial structures yesterday started selecting candidates who will contest for national positions at the wing’s forthcoming elective conference next month.
Each province is expected to choose four leading candidates who will battle it out for 40 national executive positions at the national conference to be held from June 23 to June 26.
ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Cde Mabel Chinomona, last night told The Sunday Mail that although she was yet to receive reports from teams in all the party’s 10 provinces, all processes had been smooth.
“I am in the process of receiving reports from all provinces, but I have had my ear on the ground all day. We neither had incidents of violence nor other forms of disagreements. Tomorrow (today), I should have the full reports of resolutions from all provinces,” Cde Chinomona said.
In Manicaland, ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for Administration Senator Monica Mutsvangwa — who is also Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister — yesterday emerged as the uncontested provincial nominee for the first position in the province alongside three other nominees.
In Mashonaland East and Bulawayo provinces, the Women’s League structures resolved to endorse President Mnangagwa as the ruling party’s sole candidate for the 2023 elections. Full resolutions from all provinces are expected to be confirmed today.
