A HARARE woman told the Civil Court that her ex-husband attempted to rape her two weeks ago.
Hazel Muronzi appeared before Magistrate Meenal Narotam seeking a protection order to protect her against Passmore Matora’s violent behaviour.
She stated that she once applied for a protection order and wanted him barred from her place of residence.
She further told the magistrate that two weeks ago, Passmore broke into her house and attempted to rape her.
“Two weeks ago, he came to my house and broke my door. He attempted to rape me.
“The presence of my sleeping baby distracted him and prevented me from the worst.”
She also alleged that Passmore had been collecting rent from her tenants and consistently disturbed her peace, despite living in a separate house.
“He is in the habit of collecting rentals from my tenants and we live in different houses yet he comes to my house disturbing my peace.
“I want him barred from coming to my house.”
In response Passmore shockingly admitted to attempting to rape her, justifying it as a response to her alleged insults towards his current wife.
“I attempted to rape her after she had insulted my wife and I did go to her house to discuss issues of maintenance.
“The house is mine yet she is demanding money for rentals.”
The court granted Hazel a protection order.
