WHILE Thembinkosi Ndlovu (53) and his wife Soneni Ndlovu (51) were sleeping at their Selbourne Park home in Bulawayo, they heard a loud explosion and upon checking they saw Thembinkosi’s Range Rover up in flames.
The incident which occurred last Saturday was reported to the police and was confirmed by Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube.
“We confirm a case of malicious damage to property that happened in Selbourne Park suburb where a car was set ablaze. We are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station,” said Insp Ncube.
A family member who requested not to be named said the couple was disturbed by a loud explosion which caused their dogs to bark. Following that, Thembinkosi peeped through the window and was shocked to see a man standing near the car while there was a ball of fire on the bonnet.
“He screamed in a high-pitched voice, forcing the mystery man to flee. He and his wife dashed outside and found the car burning. They tried to put out the fire but they failed and called the Fire Brigade which swiftly raced to the scene and managed to put out the fire but the car was burnt beyond repair,” said the family member.
