Mystery moo crew mayhem: 14 STRAY CATTLE CAMP IN VILLAGE

A Mysterious herd of cattle has turned Majelimane Tshuma Line in Avoca, Insiza South, into their new grazing paradise and villagers are now pleading for the real owner to come forward.

The stray beasts, now numbering 14, have been roaming the area since September last year. They were 11 when they arrived, but along the way some cows gave birth, swelling the herd by December.

A villager, Mahlathini Jilongo Ndlovu, said the cattle have blended in with local livestock as if they own the place.
“These cows have been here since around September last year. During the day, they move together with our cattle in search of pasture and water. In the evening, they simply sleep outside around our villages. They are always lying just beside my kraal,” he said.

Ndlovu admitted he has not had time to closely study the brand marks.
“I have not yet had enough time to study the brand marks closely. Even if I have not yet established their exact brands, the owner should be able to recognise their cattle given he or she knows them well,” he added.

Another villager, Monica Ndlovu (56), said the herd has now split, with some animals suspected to have joined other groups. Their number is believed to have dropped to nine.

“So far, we have had no problems with these cattle. They do not destroy our crops or cause any disturbances.
“However, we are concerned and would like the owner to collect his or her cattle while it is still easy and early,” she said.

Village head Fanitsha Tshuma (73) confirmed the cattle saga, saying no formal report has been made to authorities. Instead, villagers have been circulating pictures and videos on WhatsApp hoping the owner will recognise them.

“We have not formally reported the matter, but we have been sharing the images on WhatsApp and the owner has not come forward,” he said.

He added that most of the cattle have no visible brand marks, except one with a dip brand from Avoca.
Anyone missing cattle can contact Mr Tshuma on 0715510354.
