As a way of expanding his fan base and attracting potential followers, award-winning musician Mzoe 7 has been embarking on the “Matabeleland North Invasion” tour which has seen him performing in different areas in that province.
The Asambeni hitmaker has so far performed in Hwange,Nkayi and Lukosi and soon he will be visiting some townships and marginalised communities in the region.
Apart from trying to attract more followers towards his brand, Mzoe 7 said the tour was also about exploring and appreciating other people’s cultures and trying to do collaborations in order to uplift other artistes.
So far, he said he has managed to spot two up-and-coming creatives Zido and Empee — whom he said he will be working on a collaboration with soon.
“On this tour we have done Hwange, Nkayi and Lukosi so far and we want to make sure we get our art to every part of that side because people really appreciate our work but we have not done many events there.
“Coming up next we will stage shows in Victoria Falls, Binga, Lupane and many more places. Small towns and remote areas need to be appreciated because we usually focus on major cities and forget that there are people who need our music in small towns. There is a lot of talent that I have witnessed so far on this tour from up-and-coming artistes. I have shared the stage with Zido from Hwange, Empee from Lukosi and I really find these guys very talented.
“Collaborations are very important and I am definitely looking into working with both artistes in rural and townships. There are great producers like Ntu2kay as well as Dr Juta who have sent me good beats, instrumentals in the past and this year is the year of working,” said More 7.
Love and appreciation from rural folks is real and overwhelming — Mzoe 7 has cherished every moment he has shared with his followers in Matabeleland North.
“The difference between performing in big cities and here (Mat North) is that the love is just too much, it’s genuine and people are keen to give you a chance to showcase what you have.
“In Lukosi, when I did my 1 hour-30 minutes set, I could not even go and rest because I received too much love from the people to the extent that I had to groove with the people until the venue closed.
“It’s inspirational to know how many lives we really impact as creatives judged from my experience so far. This tour has become an experience filled with beauty of diversity, cultures and discovering untapped talents that are out there,” he said.
