Afro-pop sensation Mzoe 7 is leaving no stone unturned this year as he pushes to grow his brand beyond Zimbabwe and cement his place as one of the country’s most vibrant youthful artistes.

Earlier this year, the versatile musician hinted at reviving his one-man show, which debuted in 2023 but fizzled out. Now, seven months later, he is ready to bring it back stronger, confident that this is his time to shine and leave an indelible mark on the industry.

The second edition of the show, dubbed “I Am Who I Am”, is set for October 11 at the Bulawayo Theatre as part of the 50 Dates at the Theatre series curated by arts veteran, Saimon “Mambazo” Phiri.

Speaking after unveiling the event’s merchandise recently, Mzoe 7 said the one-man show will allow fans to experience a fresh and intimate side of his artistry.

“I’ve done a lot of bar and open events before, but I decided to create a different setting where people can come, sit down and experience my art in full.

“Having hosted it once, I now want to make it an annual event and, going forward, take it to different towns and cities,” he said.
The artiste said collaborations are key to the growth of the creative sector, noting that the upcoming show will not only spotlight him, but also give a platform to emerging talent.

“I’m partnering with 50 Dates at the Theatre and I’m also calling on corporates who’d like to support us to come on board. I’d like to involve young musicians, dancers, poets, and other creatives as curtain-raisers and collaborators. This show is not just about me, but about building together,” said Mzoe 7.

Beyond entertainment, Mzoe 7 said he will continue using his platform to spread awareness about mental health and drug abuse, causes that are close to his heart. — @mthabisi_mthire
