THE National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe team has arrived in Mauritius for the 2022 CAA Africa Senior Championships starting tomorrow and ending on 12 June at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.

The athletes at the event include Olympian Ngoni Makusha, who will participate in the 100m and 200m races, Tapiwa Makarawu and Panashe Nhenga will take part in the 200m.
Garren Muwishi, Artwell Simon and Vimbai Maisvorewa will compete in the 400m event, Carlos Gwerendende will compete in the 100m and Kuda Chadenga in the high jump.

Athletes from 28 countries are competing in the championships.
There are 45 events in the programme; 22 for men, 22 for women and a 10km trail race for both men and women.
The men will compete in hurdles, decathlon, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot-put, hammer and javelin while women will face off in hurdles, heptathlon, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot-put, discus, hammer and javelin.
The championships were supposed to be held in Algeria in 2020 but were cancelled following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mauritius has previously hosted two editions of the African Championships in 1992 and 2006.
