The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe (NAAZ) has commended the Government and its sporting partners for facilitating Team Zimbabwe’s participation at the African Senior Championships in Ghana, where the country delivered an impressive medal haul.
NAAZ president Tendai Tagara expressed gratitude to the Government of Zimbabwe, Minister of Sport Anselem Sanyatwe, the Sport and Recreation Commission and the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee for supporting the team’s trip to Ghana.
Zimbabwe emerged from the continental championships with a gold medal in the men’s 4x400m relay team made up of Thandazani Ndhlovu, Dennis Hove, Leeford Zuze and Gerren Muwishi.
The country also secured two silver medals, with Ashley Miller finishing second in the women’s 100m hurdles, while Hove claimed another second-place finish in the men’s 400m race.
Zuze added to Zimbabwe’s success after winning bronze in the men’s 400m event.
Tagara said the achievements by the athletes demonstrate the growth of athletics in Zimbabwe and the importance of continued support towards sports development and international participation.
He said the medals won in Ghana are a source of national pride and motivation for upcoming athletes across the country.
Zimbabwe’s performance at the championships has been widely praised by athletics enthusiasts, with the relay team’s gold medal particularly standing out as one of the country’s finest achievements at the continental competition.
