The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe has rescheduled two of its flagship high-performance coaching courses to secure the availability of internationally renowned lecturers.
The CECS Level 2 Middle and Long Distance Course, initially set for August, will now run from October 26 to 31 at White City Stadium.
Fifteen coaches will participate in the intensive programme under Germany’s Gunter Lange, a respected figure in middle and long-distance training.
The CECS Level 2 Throws Course will run from November 9 to 14, also at White City, with Mauritian expert Joel Severe leading sessions for shot put, discus, javelin and hammer throw coaches.
Naaz administrator Manuel Mpofu, said the adjustments were made to align with the schedules of the two instructors and that the association’s development plans remain firmly on track.
“All is in order. The adjustments were necessary to ensure that we continue delivering the highest quality coaching education with top-tier international lecturers.
We remain committed to the development of athletics in Zimbabwe and encourage all registered participants to take note of the new dates,” said Mpofu.
He underlined the significance of the programmes, calling them vital to Zimbabwe’s sporting future.
“These courses are not just certificates; they are investments in the quality and professionalism of our coaches and officials.
By hosting them locally and bringing in global experts, we are bridging the gap between grassroots and elite performance. This is how we build a stronger, smarter generation of athletes and mentors,” he said.
Both courses form part of a wider Naaz drive to deliver elite training and certification for technical officials and coaches across the country, aiming to raise standards from the club level right through to international competition.
