The National Arts Council (NACZ) is calling for professional events management companies to run the National Arts Merit Awards.
This follows the expiry of Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation (JCMC)’s contract. Jacaranda Culture and Media Corporation had been managing the awards for the past five years.
In a statement, NACZ outlined the responsibility of the incoming management company.
“NACZ is calling for an expression of interest by professional Events Management Companies to be contracted as NAMA Event Manager for a specified period of five years,” read the statement.
“The contracted company will be responsible for raising adequate resources both financial and material for NAMA as a zenith arts awards ceremony in Zimbabwe.
“In terms of the management of NAMA, the contracted company is expected to match regional and international standards in terms of hosting top-notch arts awards ceremonies.”
NACZ outlined the key attributes expected of successful candidates.
These involve creativity and infusing new ideas into NAMA as a concept.
Resourcefulness is one of the key requirements as the incoming events manager should be able to attract resources both material and financial from diverse sources.
Time management, flexibility, effective communication skills, and extensive networking with stakeholders (sponsors, partners) who add value to NAMA are some of the major requirements.
Proof of previous successful events managed in the last would be an added advantage, according to NACZ.
Candidates are expected to submit their application for expression of interest no later than September.
