GRACIOUS “Dan Grego” Mangei, a rising comedian, cannot believe his luck.

For close to 20 years, the Karoi-born actor worked tirelessly, producing over 10 dramas and over 50 skits.

He, however, remained a virtually unknown actor.

Then came the life-changing moment.

“One day, I visited Nakamba, who was in camp with the national soccer team and posed for a photo with the star. I posted the picture on several media platforms and immediately became a sensation,” he said.

Thanks to the popularity that was brought about by the photograph, Dan Grego’s dramas, “Beautiful Liars” and “Cocon”, scooped awards at the 2022 Jakwara Short Film Festival.

Dan Grego is grateful to Nakamba for thrusting him into the limelight.

“Nakamba is a simple and humble guy who helped me become a bit famous. I am forever grateful. He is now more of a family friend as he supports my work.”
