ZIMBABWE’S national team captain and Luton Town midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a fresh injury.

Nakamba picked up the injury when Luton Town lost 0-2 against Watford last weekend.

He lasted 45 minutes of that game.

Nakamba has been stalked by injuries in recent seasons.

He recovered from a long-term knee injury in August last year, but the ailment resurfaced in October, when the Warriors played Namibia in back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Johannesburg.

The Warriors skipper will now miss Zimbabwe’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Benin in Durban and Nigeria in Uyo.

Zimbabwe host Benin on March 22 before travelling to Nigeria.

Warriors coach Michael Nees is expected to announce the squad for the two assignments soon.

The German gaffer has been monitoring local players following the return of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The 2025 season kicked off on Friday when Scottland hosted Triangle United at Rufaro Stadium.

Nees was present and got the chance to assess Warriors players Walter Musona, Tymon Machope and Godknows Murwira, who were in action for Scottland.

Khama Billiat missed the game through an injury he picked up in Zambia, where Scottland camped for two weeks.

Yesterday, the German was in Shamva, where he watched Simba Bhora versus FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium.
