NACZ assistant director arts and promotion development, Audrey Charamba, said the nominees will be given their certificates on the eve of the awards ceremony.
Charamba said this year’s edition will have more entries as the NACZ is working flat out to make this year’s edition unforgettable.
“I am overwhelmed by the increase in nominees as it shows that we have attained a milestone in terms of promoting arts and culture,” she said
Charamba also said they received 592 entries from different art genres and the adjudicators are working on them.
“I would also want to say that so far there are 592 entries and the adjudicators are working on them to come up with the nominees,” she said
Charamba also said NACZ main priorities are to promote excellence, originality and creativity and that is what most people should expect from this year’s edition.
“As NACZ, we prioritise excellence, originality and creativity which I must say is exactly what people should expect at this year’s edition,” she said
Charamba also said nominees will be announced on 1 February and they will be given their certificates on the eve of the awards ceremony.
She said this year’s Nama would see artistes of different categories that include television, dance, visual arts, theatre, media and music, getting accolades for their sterling displays during 2011. She said there were 35 categories.
Charamba said the People’s Choice awards would also determine some of the winners and people can vote via sms or Facebook.
