WINDHOEK. – Authorities are investigating the case of a Namibian woman who was found dead in Dubai after a fight broke out during a wild party early last week. The head of the Interpol National Central Bureau, Immanuel Sam, and the acting head of mission in Egypt, Morven Luswinyo, yesterday said they had heard about the incident and were investigating it.
A friend who spoke on condition of anonymity also said the family had been informed and that they were trying to establish what happened. Sources told The Namibian yesterday that the woman found in a swimming pool after a party that went wild had an open wound on her head. “Things got out of hand, so that the police were called in to stop the fight. When the police arrived, they found a Namibian lady from Rehoboth in the swimming pool dead.
“The party-goers were arrested, including a group of Namibians,” the source said.
Sam, however, said he could not confirm anything although Interpol had received reports and were investigating the matter. “The authorities in Dubai or Egypt could not tell us what happened, so at this stage I can’t confirm anything. But we are currently busy investigating what happened. “If I get anything, I will let you know,” Sam said.
Luswinyo also said that they have heard about the incident and were investigating. “We have not officially been informed, but I heard there was a Namibian killed in Dubai. We also don’t have a name yet but we are following it up,” Luswinyo said. Dubai police said no such case was reported with them. -The Namibian.
