NASA set to complete construction of Beitbridge hotel

partnership with leisure firm Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) will be completed early next year, an official said last week.
NSSA suspended construction of the hotel and other key projects at the height of the hyperinflationary period that the country experienced over the past decade.
Adoption of the multiple currency system in 2009 has enabled the authority to resume implementing projects, with a number already completed.

NSSA general manager James Matiza said the hotel would open its doors to the public in 2012.
Mr Matiza said the authority had sufficient money to complete the work.
“The rising of operating costs on a daily basis and unavailability of foreign currency before adoption of the multi-currency system saw us suspending our various projects.

“The money is now there. Construction of the Beitbridge hotel will be completed in April 2012.
“The walls are now up to the roof level. The structure will have a flat roof,” he said, adding that the contractor was now working at a brisk pace.

When complete, the hotel with 140 guestrooms is expected to create jobs in Beitbridge. Construction giant Costain is building the elegant hotel, which is perched on top of a hill.
Since the adoption of multiple currencies, NSSA has finished constructing key projects namely the US$9 million Bindura shopping mall, the Glaudina housing project in the capital and the Marondera-Rusike housing project.

NSSA has heavily invested in the properties sector to meet the growing demands of pensioners who are asking the authority to hike pensions.
The authority is in the process of developing a 10 year project development plan that would include commercial and housing projects. – New Ziana.
