Nasty war erupts in prophets WhatsApp group

EIGHT self-proclaimed prophets are embroiled in a nasty fight, hurling accusations at one another and calling each other bogus.

The self-proclaimed prophets are members of a WhatsApp group apparently created with the goal of assisting those seeking prophetic guidance. The group has approximately 360 members who have been encouraged by the self-proclaimed prophets to send their pictures, introduce themselves, and then request help.

However, a reporter from this publication disguised as a prophet from Nkayi requested to be added to their group. One of the group rules is that WhatsApp group members are required to buy data for the prophets. Some people in need of help have also been required to pay transport for the self-proclaimed prophets to come to their respective homes and “help” them.

However, a fortnight ago, in what appeared to be a power struggle, one of the prophets, who is also the founder of the Light of God Ministries church, only identified as Apostle Ncube, accused other prophets in the group of being bogus prophets.

Prophet Ganrotafi Ndlovu

Apostle Ncube accused them of being incompetent and bogus prophets, saying, “We need to go for prayer and fasting where I will teach you about prophecy because you are not prophets. You should ask my mentees whom I taught how to prophesy.”

This accusation did not sit well with the other self-proclaimed prophets, who responded vehemently, causing significant chaos in the prophets’ WhatsApp group. As a result, some members left the group. Apostle Ncube went on to describe his fellow colleagues as trying to gain power and support in the WhatsApp group.

“They are indeed not prophets. How can you prophesy someone merely by seeing their picture on WhatsApp? They are insane, why are they offended? Those guys have a feeling of being prophets, but they are not actually prophets. They are just enjoying being in control of the crowd. We must not allow bad tendencies to happen. You have to condemn wrong things, and that’s what I am doing,” he fumed.

He said they pressured him to join that group of so-called prophets. He continued, “I never asked to join. I don’t prophesy people on WhatsApp. I am not bogus like them.”

He said they also lied to him, adding that they prophesied that he would go to jail, pushing him to agree to what he referred to as “white lies.”

“They prophesied that I would go to jail, which was a lie. I know I don’t have any pending cases. They wanted me to agree to their fake and false prophecies, and they felt offended when I said no to their prophecy that I would be sent to jail. They are indeed fake prophets,” he added.

In an interview with one of the prophets who is based in South Africa but hails from Gwanda, Matabeleland South Province Trymore Ntini, also complained about the behaviour of some of the prophets in the group, saying they were just after power and money.

He claimed that Prophet Ganrotafi Ndlovu from Nkayi, who is based in South Africa and created the group, does not have a steady source of income. Therefore, his income comes from prophesying people, and he also looks down upon other prophets in their group.

“That group is mainly composed of people mostly from his district, Nkayi. Now, because he is the one who opened the group and does not have any other source of income, he now puts himself higher, recognising himself as the mighty prophet. He is after people’s money from that group,” he said.

However, another self-proclaimed prophet who exited the group in anger, Clement Sibanda, refuted the accusation of being a “false prophet,” saying he was a true prophet.

“We are all prophets. Why is it that they want power to be centred on them? They should not look down upon us. That is why I exited that group. I am also a powerful prophet of God,” he said.

A group member, Tawanda Sibanda, warned people not to accept everyone calling themselves prophets.
“Some seek data from us, and at times they request money from us. I think those guys are just milking us. People should be aware of such people. They are just hungry people,” he warned.
