HWANGE secretary-general, Khumbulani Mbano, has confirmed that Nation Dube is now the club’s new head coach.
He will be deputised by Try Ncube.
And, Bongani Mafu, who was initially appointed to guide the miners in the coming season, is now the team manager.
Dube is believed to have penned a one-year contract.
“We have settled for Dube, I can confirm that he is our new head coach,” said Mbano.
“Dube is someone who understands the structures of Hwange and he has been here before and it’s going to be easy for him to make adjustments.
“This was a collective decision because we exchanged opinions with the technical team and we all agreed to bring Dube on board.”
Mafu was appointed with the hope that he was going to be exempted by ZIFA, since he does not possess the required CAF A badge.
ZIFA reinforced the standardisation of coaching badges and demanded that all top-flight league coaches will not sit on the bench without a CAF A licence.
This operation has impacted several PSL clubs like Chicken Inn, Triangle and Simba Bhora. But, analysts believe that the move is a time-wasting sideshow since the affected teams have just reshuffled their technical departments to fool ZIFA.
At Chicken Inn, Joey Antipas, who has won two league titles, is now the Gamecocks’ technical director and his long-time assistant coach, Prince Matore, is now in charge.
At Simba Bhora Arthur “Tuts” Tutani made way for Tonderai Ndiraya and he is now the club’s assistant coach.
And, the situation at Hwange is just a reflection that teams have somehow refused to be arm-twisted by ZIFA’s orders. The CAF A course was last hosted in the county seven years ago.
