National Club Champions Bowling tournament begins

The three-day event has attracted participants from Bulawayo, Chegutu, Chinhoyi and Harare, and will feature top players from the provinces and they will compete in the singles’ category.
Bulawayo hosted the event last year and a lot is expected this year as the competition levels have improved. Reigning champion Dennis Streak is expected to defend his title in the men’s singles.

Bowls Zimbabwe president Malcom Evans yesterday said that they were ready to host the tournament.
“We are ready to host yet another exciting tournament where 18 players will compete in the singles category, ” Evans said.
Some of the players to look out for in the men’s category include Terry Bowes, Tom Craven, Colin Robertson, Colin Ott, Tony Evercroft and Shotty Tarshothim. Debbie Robertson of Arundel Sports Club,

Sandra Kok and Trish Davies will represent Harare in the women’s section.
City Bowling Club player / coach Colin Ott said the tournament was going to be very competitive as it has attracted all the top players from different clubs.
“The tournament will be very competitive because all the top national singles’ champions, provincial national champions and club champions from across the country will compete.

“This is one of the prestigious tournament sas people will travel from all over Zimbabwe to take part,” said Ott.
