National hero Nyashanu buried

Acting President John Landa Nkomo speaking during the burial urged Zimbabweans to defend the gains of independence and to call for the removal of illegal sanctions imposed on the country.

“The freedom and democracy we enjoy today is the product of the supreme sacrifices made by our heroic comrades during the liberation struggle. It is our turn to defend our independence and sovereignty and in this respect no Zimbabweans should be found equivocating.
“Only yesterday we were under colonial bondage and we cannot have forgotten so soon how life was under colonial administration and how many lives and how much blood had to be shed before the white man conceded defeat,” he said.
