In a strategic move aimed at enhancing community engagement and development, the National Men’s Forum for Economic Development, has appointed Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Deputy Minister Kiven Mutimbanyoka as the chairman of its Community Development Committee, effective immediately.
In an interview, the forum’s national chairman, Cde Kudzanayi Gavaza, said the role is essential for driving significant change in local communities through collaborative efforts.
“Honourable Mutimbanyoka’s experience and passion for community service will be invaluable as he leads initiatives that affect families directly,” he said.
“We believe that empowering men to take active roles in their communities is key to sustainable development.”
Discussing the appointment, Cde Gavaza emphasised the necessity of this position in the current socio-economic climate.
“Our commitment it to fostering community improvement through engagements with local leaders. We expect significant outcomes from this new leadership,” said Cde Gavaza.
Cde Gavaza reiterated the expectations placed upon Deputy Minister Mutimbanyoka.
He said that he will be responsible for overseeing community initiatives that tackle essential projects, such as improving infrastructure and promoting men’s engagement in family welfare.
“With his leadership, we are optimistic about our potential to enact real change,” said Cde Gavaza.
Deputy Minister Mutimbanyoka urged men to take up constructive, accountable roles in strengthening families and communities.
He said linking responsible fatherhood and social cohesion must be sustainable national development.
“I wish to express my profound gratitude to the National Men’s Forum for Economic Development for the confidence reposed in me through my appointment as chairman of the Community Development Committee,” he said.
“I accept this responsibility with humility, clarity of purpose and an unwavering commitment to service.
“In executing this mandate, I intend to prioritise structured partnerships with local authorities, traditional leaders, civil society, NGO’s and Government agencies to advance practical, impact-driven initiatives.”
