The inaugural National Schools Arts Gala kicked off at Prince Edward High School in Harare on Wednesday under an initiative to promote visual and performing arts.
In an interview, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education director of communications and advocacy Mr Taungana Ndoro said: “The National Schools Arts Gala is in line with the President’s vision to ensure that we create an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
“The gala helps learners with a semi-professional performance stage to perform their various acts, hence instilling enterprise skills in them at an early age to prepare them to earn a living through the arts.”
The gala was also meant to celebrate Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity through past and contemporary music genres, and provide a platform for expression of national pride through voice, sound and movement.
The gala ends on Friday.
