PREPARATIONS for the National Youth Day celebrations are now at an advanced stage at Marondera’s Igava Business Centre, where various Government departments, agencies and ministries have joined hands to ensure the day’s success.
More than 30 000 people, mostly youths, are expected to attend this event on Saturday, which will be officiated by President Mnangagwa.
On this day, President Mnangagwa is expected to lead a groundbreaking ceremony for the establishment of the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Youth Service in Zimbabwe and the Vocational Training Centre, which will be the biggest training centre in Zimbabwe.
On Thursday, a high-powered delegation comprising the Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister, Tinoda Machakaire, Local Government and Public Works Minister, Daniel Garwe, Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister, Dr Anxious Masuka, as well as the Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, toured the site to assess progress.
In an interview, Advocate Ndudzo said the province is ready to host the event.
“As the host province, Mashonaland East, we are delighted to say we are set and ready to host a successful National Youth Day to be held at Igava on February 21, 2026,” he said.
“I can say, without any fear of contradiction, we are on course to deliver the best National Youth Day celebration on account of the record number of people we expect to grace the occasion.
“The Province is ready and it is all systems go. The preparatory work is almost complete, everything is in place, the institutional business unit has been set, fish ponds are ready, and the tentage and everything is now above 99 percent complete.
“Transport has been mobilised and all logistics are being done. We are earmarking to have a record number of buses and other means of transportation to bring in a record crowd and we want to promise the people of Zimbabwe that they will not be disappointed by what they will experience here at Igava.”
The National Youth Day is being celebrated annually, and it offers a platform where the President can interact with the youth from across the country.
