Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa has dissolved management boards for the National Pharmaceutical Company (Natpharm) and the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) with immediate effect.
He immediately appointed new boards with lawyer Ms Josephine Dube retaining her post as chairperson of the MCAZ, while medical practitioner Dr Alex Zinhanga deputises her.
Other board members are Dr Christopher Dzapasi, Mr David Mandishona, Mr Jefter Kunonga, Dr Plaxedia Muvavarirwa, Ms Josyline Chaibva, Dr Prosper Chonzi, Mr Reginald Gwisai, Mrs Ropafadzo Hove and Dr Chiedza Maponga. Dr Parirenyatwa also reappointed Dr George Washaya as chairperson of the Natpharm management board.
Other board members are Mr Davison Mupandawana, Dr Thomas Wushe, Dr Tapuwa Bwakura, Mr Moosa Allana, Mrs Ropafadzo Hove and Mrs Florah Sifeku who is the managing director.
Speaking after appointing management boards for the two parastatals, Dr Parirenyatwa said the term of office for most management boards in the health sector had expired.
Recently, Dr Parirenyatwa dissolved and appointed new boards for Harare Central Hospital, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Chitungwiza Central Hospital and the National Aids Council.
“The idea is to give a new impetus and have a coincidence of vision. You put people you hope share the vision you have,” he said.
Dr Parirenyatwa urged all the new board members to exhibit their skills for the fulfilment of their organisation’s vision.
“Sitting on a board does not mean literally sitting but it means working. You have to bring all those ideas to the fore for the realisation of the organisation’s vision,” he said.
Both MCAZ and Natpharm chairpersons acknowledged the confidence bestowed on them by Minister Parirenyatwa to head the parastatals and promised to deliver.
